Get involved

There are several ways to support our work.

We have listed them below in order of what we believe would be most useful. The most useful thing remains funding.

1. Write to your MP

Parliamentary correspondence from constituents is one of the most effective tools available to members of the public. Hate Matters has a template letter available in the Hate Library. It has been used, with modifications, by several supporters. One received a response. The response was not supportive. We have added the MP to the register and we have prepared a follow-up template.

2. Share our resources

Our briefings, working-group minutes, op-eds, and the Hate Matters Quarterly are available in the Hate Library. We encourage supporters to share them widely — with friends, colleagues, local councillors, and anyone who has not yet responded to our previous correspondence. We note that most people who receive our materials do not respond. We are documenting this.

3. Attend a regional consultation

Hate Matters holds occasional regional consultations in locations across England and Wales, at which supporters can hear directly from our trustees and contribute their views to our policy development process.

No consultations are currently scheduled. If you would like to host one in your area, we would be grateful. We would attend. We would bring Margaret.

4. Join the working group

The School Guidance Working Group meets on Tuesdays. The chair, Margaret, has attended all seven sessions. She is the only person who has attended any session. Quorum has not been achieved.

If you are available on Tuesdays and hold views broadly compatible with our work, we would welcome your attendance. You would, immediately, achieve quorum. Margaret has asked us to note that she would find this "very meaningful".

5. Fund hate

Donation information is available on our Fund Hate page. We accept all major currencies. We particularly welcome the US dollar. We have prepared a donor prospectus. One person has requested to be removed from the mailing list after receiving it. We have updated the register accordingly and we remain open to dialogue.
